Retainers vs projects — moved my consultancy across, here is what changed
Two years of feast and famine ended when I stopped quoting projects. Three clients at £2,400 a month now covers the whole business.
What made it sellable: I priced the outcome (pipeline reviews and one campaign a month), not my hours, and I put a 90 day minimum with a 30 day exit after that. Nobody has used the exit.
Happy to look at anyone's retainer proposal if you paste the structure.

The 90 day minimum is the bit most people skip and it is why their retainers churn in month two.
Same model in accountancy — monthly fee, not annual invoice. Clients budget better and we stopped chasing money in January.
Trying this for content shoots. One shoot day a month at a fixed fee instead of quoting each job.
